Garden Kitty
Lulu
She was already home before anybody in the house had seen her.
Things Lulu does
- Eats cucumber. On purpose. With enthusiasm.
- Works the portable air conditioner — power, mode, fan speed — then lies on it belly-up.
- Holds fingers, and keeps holding them.
- Sits bolt upright like a person, usually behind something that resembles a desk.
- Sleeps like we have world peace.
Book Three
Her story, roughly
Book Three starts in the garden. Something had been taking bites out of it for weeks and slipping away behind the shed. Everybody suspected a raccoon. Everybody had been wrong for longer than they realised.
I’d already been coming in. Nobody asked.
— Lulu, mid-cucumber
